Requesting prayers. I was recently diagnosed with Chiari 1 Malformation with a syrinx. Basically part of the cerebellum (brain) descends out of the base of your skull into your spinal canal. This compresses the spinal cord and disrupts the flow spinal fluid. It also causes the syrinx (a pocket of fluid built up in my spinal cord). This causes many symptoms....from bad headaches, constant pain, weakness in your arms and legs, nausea, fatigue, slurred speach at times, blurry vision and the list goes on. Because of this I will be having to get brain surgery. They are shooting for April 2nd. It's a major surgery. They have cut a 3" incision on the back of neck, remove part of my skull and one vertebra, cut the covering of my brain and sew in a patch to allow more room for the brain and relieve the pressure on the spinal cord. I will be in the hospital they say for 3-4 days and recovery can take anywhere from 4-6 weeks to a few months. I would appreciate every prayer!!
