We are all victims of spiritual warfare in our everyday lives. The enemy's goal is to inflict attacks on Believers in an effort to "break them" and make them feel powerless so that they will question God and will not be as fruitful to His kingdom.
The past few weeks, my eyes have been opened to this! I am in network marketing and every time I was about to promote with the company or receive a bonus...basically anytime I was on to something good, obstacles were thrown in my way to keep me from advancing. Over the next few weeks, I saw and heard this message in various places: "Satan doesn't want followers of God to promote or advance in life. The enemy doesn't want them to be successful because he knows they will have a platform to do more good and bring more people to Christ. So just when you're about to promote, that's when things will get really tough."
It hit me like a ton of bricks and I realized all these obstacles, the heaviness I felt in my chest, the feeling of depression that is unusual for me to feel....they're spiritual attacks trying to wear me down. It ALMOST worked.
While on my way to a huge conference in Florida, I bought some airplane reading material. One book was "The Invisible War" and the other "Prayers for Victory in Spiritual Warfare". The first step in combatting these attacks is understanding the Warriors prayer and what it actually means, which both books explain. They also provide prayers for different occasions such as overcoming addiction, fear and anxiety, recovering from loss etc. I have said these prayers WITH AUTHORITY whenever I feel necessary and its like that heaviness in my chest had been lifted. I could breath deeper. My mind was at ease. As I continue to do so, I can see that God is fighting by my side to help pave the way for me to fulfil His purpose.
Don't be too quick to blame God for mishappenings in life. Sure, some are tests and possibly blessings in disguise. But, many are attacks from the enemy hoping to break you down, cause you to question your faith, and keep you from fulfilling Gods purpose and from putting good out into the world. Once I was aware of that and prayed daily against these acts, it was amazing how things began to change.
