My grandson was born with CDH Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia, which means that there was a hole in his diaphragm that caused other organs to fill the space were his lungs should have been able to develop. Soon after being delivered, a breathing tube was inserted down his throat in order for him to breathe. When he made one month old, he was well enough to come home. Initially the doctors believed that in time his underdeveloped lung would grow more. Jaxson is now 4 months old and we have been told that it is determined that the under developed lung has scar/dead tissue meaning that his lung will NOT be able to develop anymore.
